 Three months ago a friend of mine gave me a 1968 Model 457 Singer as a gift. She says she was sewing all the time with it and only gave it away because she bought a new one. I'm wondering, should I have it serviced? I haven't used it since I got it as I was busy with school, but now I want to use it to mend clothes and work on my sewing skills (which are non-existent). It would really suck if I had to pay seventy dollars to service it, I was really looking forward to sewing after years of not having access to a machine to practice with.
